Käthe Kollwitz

Käthe Kollwitz (1867 – 1945) was an artist who made many drawings in charcoal and some sculptures. To express the suffering of human kind, with a focus on poverty, hunger and war of the working class. Especially she expressed her own feelings about losing her son Peter (1895 – 1914) during World War I. I made this drawing in September 2020, in Maastricht. Here is a well known quote of her:
Pacifism is simply not a matter of calm looking on; it is work, hard work.
